Clean, tidy and orderly India.
It is time to be ashamed. Why this is still eluding us? Ask
anyone and the answer would be that yes we want a clean and tidy India. But the
real picture is different. Cities or villages - looks are ugly. Let us accept the fact and we should not deny or
make excuses. A lot of work is required to be done.
1.
Responsibility – First thing first. Why it is so
difficult to have the civic sense along with community sense. Cleanliness is
the attitude. We should have the mindset of cleanliness and orderliness. Let us
not crib about poverty, population or blame government for it. Country belongs
to us. If we love our country, we will keep it clean. We have to take
responsibility of our neighborhood, localities, villages, cities, states and
country. We own the place and responsibility of keeping our place clean is
ours. Get committed not to litter or do anything to make surroundings dirty.
And also make sure that others around you are not doing so. A complete no to
spit / urinate / defecate in open places.
2.
Priority – Cleanliness has still not got the
priority it deserves. Until and unless we actively think about it and keep it
top on priority, it will not occur. We are too casual about it. And this has
nothing to do with rich / poor, educated / uneducated.
3.
Think about environment – It not only looks bad,
it is bad for environment and health. Environment pollution including air water
and noise pollution and diseases like dengue, malaria, chikungunya, hepatitis
etc are significantly related to our attitude of cleanliness & orderliness.
4.
Infrastructure – Some steps that are necessary
on priority basis are -
- environment friendly waste disposal
- easy accessibility to public toilets & wastebins
- proper drainage system
- sensible construction

We cannot be casual anymore. It is time to own responsibility
and act.
Be clean now, India.
